Located outside of Hangzhou, the capital city of China’s Zhejiang Province, the rural town of Lin’an sits among sprawling bamboo forests dotted with farms and homesteads. Appearing to many visitors to be a place untouched by time, a retrofit hotel in Lin’an functions as our adventure base for the week. The outdoor education center’s facilities are used as our staging and training grounds for the week. Students learn kayaking, hiking and camping skills along with outdoor cooking, sustainable farming and low-impact wilderness travel.
Significant time is also committed to progressive team challenges aimed at building camaraderie and communication skills among participants. The week culminates in an all-group adventure race that puts to use all of the new or improved-upon skills that students have acquired throughout the week.
