Peninsula Outdoor School’s program model is based on three core elements: effective curriculum, skilled instructors, and the experiential learning cycle.
Our experiences are designed to assist students in understanding the importance of informed adventuring; topics like risk assessment, terrain management and group dynamics are taught in conjunction with backpacking and kayaking skills. Our curriculum sources are the best available and are continually revised to reflect the best practices in the industry.
Peninsula’s skills instructors and program facilitators are chosen for their hard- and soft-skills set. We understand that the most capable backpacker does not translate into the most capable backpacking instructor without the educational insight and empathy to help a group reach its course outcomes. We recruit and train outdoor educators that are well-traveled, well-read, experienced and passionate about what they do. Our teaching staff are an integral part of delivering courses that are safe, fun, and effective.
